Msanjes Game Reserve

The Msanjesi Game Reserve, with a size of 220 km2, is located in the north of Lukwika – Lumesule Game Reserve at the administrative boundary with Nachingwea District.    

Lukwika – Lumesule and Msanjesi Game Reserves are parts of the Selous – Niassa ecosystem in Southern Tanzania which extends into Northern Mozambique forming one of the largest natural trans-boundary ecosystems in Africa. The ecosystem covers approximately 154,000 km2. The reserves are characterized by Miombo Woodland of different plant compositions which opens up to savannah woodland with typical Baobab trees.

The reserves support large population of lions, elephants, hippo, crocodiles, buffalo, Sable antelopes and Kudu, and acts as corridor for elephants moving from Mozambique to Tanzania on the Selous – Niassa Wildlife Corridor.

It is easily accessible by road using Four wheel  car from Masasi Town as we as well as chartered aircrafts from Dar es Salaam.
